Ideal Clocking offers substantial performance increases to all electronic devices. Handheld devices, for instance, can now be developed in a 1/3rd of the time currently required, with 50 times less die area, and operate 25% longer per battery recharge. Typical locking loops in nearly all ICs require startup times in the millisecond and even second range. Instantaneous loops (IL), or instantaneous coherence, converge within 10 nanoseconds, 1,000,000s of times faster. Phase noise is substantial improved by tracking more exactly the reference clock, which is often generated from a crystal to specifically keep phase noise much lower.
